Claire’s Stores Settlement


If you received notice from Defendant that your personal information may have been compromised as a result of a Data Incident that occurred between April 7, 2020 and June 12, 2020, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Eastern Division) has preliminarily approved a class action settlement that may affect your legal rights.


The Final Fairness and Approval Hearing will proceed on 9/27/2022 at 10:00 AM in Courtroom 1925. To ensure public access to the proceeding notwithstanding concerns regarding Covid-19, members of the public and media may call in to listen to hearing. The call-in number is (888) 557-8511 and the access code is 3547847. Persons granted remote access to proceedings are reminded of the general prohibition against photographing, recording, and rebroadcasting of court proceedings. Violation of these prohibitions may result in sanctions, including removal of court-issued media credentials, restricted entry to future hearings, denial of entry to future hearings, or any other sanctions deemed necessary by the Court.

  • A class action settlement has been reached in the case of Julia Rossi, et al v. Claire’s Stores, Inc, et al, Case No. 1:20-cv-05090 pending in the District Court, Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division.

  • On March 28, 2022, the Court preliminarily approved this settlement and, by agreement of the Parties, certified this lawsuit to proceed as a class action for settlement purposes only.

  • If you received notice from Defendant that your personal information may have been compromised as a result of a Data Incident, as described in the Petition, that occurred between April 7, 2020 and June 12, 2020 at Defendant, you are a member of the Settlement Class. Excluded from the Settlement Class are all those persons who timely and validly request exclusion from the Settlement Class.

  • If you are a Class Member, then you may be entitled to compensation under the terms of a proposed settlement. If you are a Class Member and you wish to file a claim, object to the Settlement, or exclude yourself from the Settlement, you must do so follow the procedures outlined below and detailed in the Long Form Notice.

  • Your legal rights may be affected whether you act or don’t act.

The Final Approval Hearing for the Settlement is September 27, 2022 at 10:00 am in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Eastern Division), Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse, 219 South Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60604.

The Court in charge of this case still has to decide whether to grant final approval of the Settlement. Payments will only be made after the Court grants final approval of the Settlement and after any appeals are resolved.
